Description

Every spring we have a limited number of potted peony plants for sale.  These plants come from the division of our mature plants and we also bring in rooted stock from Holland, both herbaceous, hybrid and Itoh varieties.  The divisions are planted and overwintered, so when you purchase these, they are already two or three years old, the roots are established and plants have buds set.  Typically, peonies are sold bare roots in the fall with 2 to 3 eyes, which means 2-3 stems will grow in the first year.  When you plant these, it will take 2-3 years to have blooms.  A peony plant takes 5 years to mature.  Our potted plants, are already 2 or 3 years old, they are bigger with more eyes (stems).  We love peonies and we want to sell plants that will give you blooms faster by pre-growing these for you.  This is a more advanced method than purchasing bare roots in the fall.

We grow over 50 different varieties.  The herbaceous will need ring supports.  The hybrids and itoh less, unless really matured and the flowers get huge.  The Itoh blooms longer.  You can select from early, mid and late blooming varieties to add to your collection.  This can provide blooms from mid June to late July.  Once the blooms are done, the green shrubs will add texture to your landscape.  Peonies are very hardy.
